Of 又是英语中一个常见的介词，在初中英语中，由of 形成有短语不计其数。a map of China 是中国地图，但看似简单的of在实际运用中就不是那么回事了。根据我多年的总结，of有七大结构用法，不信你也来看看！
1.（a） 量词 of 名词
a kind/type/sort 一种/一类．．．．．．
a bit of少量的，一点
a bottle of 一瓶
a glass of 一杯
a piece of 一片（张，块）
a place of interest 名胜 a pair of 一双，一对
a couple of … a series of 一系列…
a waste of 浪费
a variety of多种多样，
a (large)number of 许多(修饰可数）
a (large) amount of大量 (修饰不可数)
plenty of 充足的，相当多的(修饰不可数)
a great deal of = a lot of =lots of
all kinds / sorts of 各种各样的
hundreds/thousands/millions of 数百/千/百万
2. be adj/过去分词 of 名词
be made up of 由……组成
be proud of 为……而自豪
be fond of 爱好，喜欢
be tired of 厌烦
be ashamed of 对… 惭愧
be jealous of妒忌
be sure/certain of确信
be short of 短缺，缺乏
be sick of厌倦于
be afraid/ frightened of 怕…
3. 动词 of ＋名词/代词
die of illness死于疾病
dream of a car梦想有一辆小汽车
speak/talk of the accident谈起这个事故
hear of the story听说这个故事
think of going home想起回家
speak/think highly of the policeman 高度评价警察
４. 动词＋名词 of 名词
have a good command of English精通英语
get rid of the drawing去掉画面
make fun of the poor 取笑穷人
take advantage of your friends利用朋友
take care of the old照顾老人
make full use of the resource充分利用资源
run out of money用完钱
take the place of him代替，取代他
5. 动词 sb of 名词
inform sb of sth通知某人某事
remind sb of sth使某人想起某情况
rob sb of sth抢劫某人的某东西
warn sb of sth警告某人有某情况
convince/ assure sb of sth 使某人相信某事
6. be of 名词 相当于形容词
be of help fo sb = sth be helpful to sb 对某人有帮助
be of good/high quality 某物质量好
be of great value = sth be valuable 对......有价值
be of great importance = sth be very important 对......很重要
be of great benefit to sb = sth be beneficial to对某人有好处
be of use to sb = sth be useful for sb 对某人有用

at the cost of 以…的代价
by means of用，凭借，通过
on the basis of 在…基础上
in charge of 主管，负责
in the charge of 由……掌管
in honour of 为了纪念，为向……表示敬意
in memory of 为了纪念
